Piedmont CASA will hold volunteer information sessions at Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral, from 12 until 1 p.m. and 6 until 7 p.m. Anyone who has thought about becoming a court appointed special advocate in Louisa will find out how to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in foster care. No special experience is required, but volunteers must be at least 21 years old. Volunteers are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence and commitment. The Louisa Chapter of AARP meets at 2 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month, September through May, in the second floor conference room of the Louisa County Office Building. All residents age 50 and older are welcome. Following a program, refreshments are served by member volunteers. AARP meetings and trips are a great way for seniors to meet and socialize with others.
Preschool Read & Rhyme Time is a fun program highlighting early literacy skills. Enjoy short books, rhymes, finger plays, a flannel story, and songs using shakers and rhythm instruments each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Designed for ages 2 through 5 with an accompanying adult or caregiver.
