The Louisa Gators Swim Team will hold its second annual GatorAid 5K on Saturday, March 8 to raise money for the upcoming season.
With a goal of $8,000, all money raised will provide scholarships, financial assistance and new equipment for the Gators.
Based in Louisa County, the Gators are a summer swim team for children ages five to 18, with a focus on improving skills, building self-esteem and practicing good sportsmanship. The Gators have helped hundreds of local youths in the team’s six years of existence.
Also, the Gators are classified as a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning all contributions made to the Gators will be tax deductible.
Along with donations, the Gators are asking for sponsors for the event. The sponsor packages range from $50 to $1000, with t-shirts, advertising and bonus race registrations given in return.
The 5K offers local businesses the perfect chance to advertise to the local community while helping children succeed.
The race will begin at the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department, with the 5K set to start at 9 a.m. A one-mile Fun Run will be held at 10 a.m.
