Health and Wellness Center of Louisa has expanded its services to include prenatal health care.

The Health and Wellness Center of Louisa (HWCL), in partnership with UVA Health System, recently announced that prenatal care is now being offered at the health center. This is an exciting partnership that allows HWCL to expand its service offerings to the community. Dr. Denise Young of UVA Health System will oversee the obstetric services at the health center.

Young received a bachelor of arts in biology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia and a doctor of medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently practices at UVA Health System.

Young will practice at HWCL on Thursdays, and she will offer routine obstetric care, dating ultrasounds and stress tests.

“I am excited to join the team at HWCL and to provide obstetric care in this community,” Young said.

Young has been providing prenatal care in Louisa for a number of years. This move ensures women that this important service will remain in the community. Additionally, HWCL offers integrated primary care, so women may also receive family practice medical care, dental and behavioral health services in the same location. Staff at the health center will be able to offer women a range of services that can ensure that women have healthy pregnancies and follow up care.
