The Lady Lions field hockey team played a pair of games last week, traveling to Charlottesville on Oct. 18 and hosting Powhatan on Oct. 20. The Lions fought hard in both games, but were shut out both times, falling 6-0 to Charlottesville and 9-0 to Powhatan.

Charlottesville took a 4-0 lead in the first half, then added two in the second half for the final score. Lions goalie Ikea Burkett tallied 13 saves for the Lions.

“The girls played with a lot of heart,” head coach Meredith Williamson said. “We demonstrated a good adjustment to the turf which is always a positive.”

The Lions hosted Powhatan on Oct. 20 for their senior night game.
