Louisa County Parks and Recreation will offer a lifeguarding class for teens ages 15 and older.
The class will run at the Betty J. Queen Center and the Louisa County Aquatic Facility from 5:00 until 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday July 22, 23 and 24 and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 29, 31 and Aug. 1.
To enroll in the class, participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously and then surface dive 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick, then return to surface and swim back to start in one minute and 40 seconds. Participants must be able to attend all classes and pass the written work and the skills test in order to receive certification.
The cost of the course is $125. This is a great opportunity for teens or adults who might be looking for a position at the Louisa County Aquatic Facility for the end of the summer and next summer. Register by July 19.
