Lake Anna-Recreation in Louisa, VA
Lake Anna, a 9,600-acre man-made lake, draws numerous visitors to the area each year. Developed as a water source for the Dominion Virginia Power North Anna Nuclear Power Station, Lake Anna has become a recreational mecca for fisherman, boaters, wakeboarders, jet skiers and anyone who enjoys the waterfront lifestyle.
Although thousands make their way to the lake in the summer, it continues to maintain its quiet, community appeal, with a diverse selection of luxurious homes, secluded properties and weekend get-away bungalows available for rent or purchase.
The sleepy resort area has recently attracted commercial development as well, bringing more consumer choices and activities including sushi, a Chinese restaurant, pizza chain, veterinary practice, salons and more.
Lake Anna State Park is situated in Spotsylvania County on more than 2,500 acres. The park features a beach, swimming access, multi-use trails, picnic areas, boat launch facilities and educational facilities at its visitors’ center. Cabins and tent pads are available for rent at the park, which hosts numerous outdoor and educational activities for all ages all summer long.
The North Anna Nuclear Power Station Visitors Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and showcases the construction of the power station and lake, as well as displays on electricity and nuclear energy.
