The Lions faced tough competition from the more than 60 teams that attended the meet. Junior Jacob Woodson’s third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet, six inches was the highest individual finish the Lions scored for the day.
Senior Taylor Haywood earned a seventh place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 42 feet, seven inches, and junior Sean Dobb placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 7.5 inches.
In the girls’ events, junior Sarah Seay placed 10th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 56 seconds. Sophomore Dahja Price scored a pair of 12th place finishes for the Lions in the 55-meter dash with a season best time of 7.59 seconds, and in the high jump with a height of four feet, eight inches.
Five of Louisa’s six relay teams also set season records on the track. The girls’ 4×200 team placed 13th with a season record time of 1:54.24, the 4×400 relay team finished in 4:24.30 for another 13th place finish and the 4×800 relay team ran their race in 10:48.96 for an 18th place finish.
The boys’ 4×200 and 4×400 teams also earned season best performances on the track. The 4×400 team placed 11th with a time of 3:40.40, while the 4×200 team finished 12th with a time of 1:36.51.
The track team competed at Fork Union Military Academy on Jan. 16. Results from the meet were unavailable at press time.
The Lions travel to Lynchburg on Jan. 19-20 for a meet at Liberty University. Events begin at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 and at 8 p.m. on Jan 20.
