Members of Louisa County High School’s swim and diving team made their mark at the Virginia High School Class 4 State Championship meet last week.
At the diving championship, which was held at St. Catherine’s School in Richmond on Feb. 15, LCHS sophomore Michael Menton was crowned the state champion with a first place score of 267.40.
Louisa seniors Michael Puchalski, Tristan Snyder and Coleman Rosson earned second, third and fourth place finishes.
In the girls’ diving competition, Lindsay Miller of Blacksburg High School was crowned the state champion with a score of 360.95. Louisa senior Madison Noland placed fifth with a score of 261.90, and senior Shyanne Morris, the two-time state champion diver, placed sixth with a score of 228.15.
The swimming portion of the competition was held at the Swim RVA facility in Richmond on Feb. 17. Senior Alexa Owen, in her third trip to the state championship, was the lone Lion in the pool that day, swimming the 200-yard individual medly and the 500-yard freestyle races.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Owen placed fifth with a time of two minutes, 12.23 seconds. She placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:08.91.
