Town of Louisa Police Chief Jessie L. Shupe graduated from the 32nd Session of the Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS) at the University of Richmond in March, where he received the Lex T. Eckenrode Scholarship Award during the closing graduation ceremony.
“It was very inspiring and it was a sense of encouragement to receive the award, because of this type of training and unique curriculum,” Shupe said.
The PELS program is an intensive three-week leadership education program co-sponsored by the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation and the University of Richmond.
The collegiate-based classes were held at the executive center of the Management Institute, located in the Robins School of Business on the campus of the University of Richmond. Faculty members of the university taught the classes, which are drawn from the Robins School of Business, the Management Institute and Jepson School of Leadership Studies.
