Louisa’s softball team scored a pair of Jefferson District wins last week, defeating the Western Albemarle Warriors on the road and the Orange County Hornets at home.
The Lions started things off on April 30 against Western Albemarle with a four-run first inning in which Olivia Chenault, Brooke Vincze, Taylor Fifer and Haley Rosson each scored for Louisa.
The Lions kept the momentum going in the second, with Chenault hitting a two-run home run to boost Louisa’s lead to 6-0. Four more runs in the third inning sealed the deal with a 10-0 victory.
“We were able to jump out with the early lead, which provided us an opportunity to get everyone in the game,” Lions Coach Susan Sharpe said. “The defense provided strong support and committed no errors.”
Chenault led Louisa’s offense with three hits and three RBIs. Vincze, Rosson and Brie Tyler added one hit each. Rosson gave up two hits and walked one batter from over the five-inning game.
