The Louisa Gators swim team had plenty to celebrate following their Jefferson Swim League meet at the Lake Monticello pool.
The Gators had 15 athletes obtain gold-level times en route to a 512-485 win over the Sharks for the team’s first win of the season on June 17.
“Our swimmers had a terrific night,” said coach Debra Bickley. “Starting with our 8-and-under boys and girls winning the free relay and ending with a win for the meet.”
Natalie Pavco and Conrad Luttschwager led the charge with gold standards in four events in the girls’ 13-14 division.
Pavco won the 100 individual medley with a time of 1 minute, 19.22 seconds. She also won the 50 freestyle (31.68). In addition, she posted the top times in the 50 backstroke (36.88) and the 50 butterfly (43.08) in her age group, but her wins didn’t count towards the team total because swimmers are limited to three individual events to count per a team’s score.
Luttschwager was second in the 100 individual medley (1:24.25) 50 freestyle (34.43) and the 50 butterfly (37.44) in the boys’ 11-12 division. He also had the second fastest time in the 50 breaststroke (46.60) but his time did not count toward the team score.
Alison Soriano posted gold times in three individual events.
Soriano touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (38.22) for the Gators in the girls’ 9-10 division. She garnered runner-up honors in the 50 freestyle (38.22) and in the 100 individual medley (1:40.37).
