Darren A. Poindexter has been accepted to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with the quest to earn his bachelors degree in pro music.
On November 30, Poindexter and his parents traveled to the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Arts Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he auditioned and was interviewed by representatives from the admissions department at Berklee. Poindexter rendered an exceptional performance and, by mid December, received his letter of acceptance to begin classes at Berklee for the fall semester which will start this September.
A tour of the Berklee campus on April 13 was very helpful to Poindexter and his family bringing to light much of how life at this prestigious institution of higher learning will be. Being an avid percussionist, he is extremely thankful for this opportunity to take his passion further and is appreciative of the encouragement and well wishes of family, friends and former educators.
Poindexter is a 2012 graduate of Louisa County High School and the son of Charlie and Julie Poindexter. He is the grandson of Marie Trice and the late Norris B. Trice, all of Louisa, and the late Charlie and Angelee Poindexter of Cobham.
