Boys’ tennis player Garrett Corker returns a serve during Louisa’s senior night home match against Charlottesville on May 3. As the lone senior, Corker was honored by the team.

Louisa’s tennis teams took on Charlottesville High School on May 3. The boys’ team hosted the Black Knights for their senior night match, while the girls’ team played on the road.

The boys faced tough competition from their opponents, falling 8-1. The Lions’ lone win came in the number three doubles match when Nathan Gramling and Alan Swasey defeated Eli Chancey and Charlie Wertimer 8-0.

The Lions honored senior Garrett Corker during the senior night ceremony.

“Garrett is a very steady-as-he-goes player,”  Coach Gregory Palmer said of his lone senior player. “He has been working very hard to improve his skills over the years. He brings [to the team] great sportsmanship, constant competitiveness and the ability to meet any challenge with dedication and hard work.”

On the road, the girls battled through several tough matches, including a pair of tiebreakers, to bring home their 8-1 victory.
