There is nothing like ice cream to cool you off on a hot summer day. And in Louisa County, there are a couple of businesses that can fill the bill.

Frosties Rail Stop Ice Cream Shop, located next to the Shell gas station in the town of Louisa, has been delighting families since John Fenner opened the business last September.

This old-fashioned eatery and ice cream shop offers customers a walk-up menu so patrons can eat on the go or relax under the shade at an outdoor table.

Frosties carries classic flavors of high quality soft-serve ice cream, as well as a large variety of slushy’s and sugar free options  Hot dogs, nachos and value meals are also a staple on the menu.

Fenner said he always enjoys seeing new faces at his shop, and on Memorial Day weekend there were many.

“We had a good weekend,” Fenner said. “We had a lot of new customers.”

The shop features 24 flavors of shaved ice, with Blue Hawaii being the hands-down favorite among Frosties’ customers

For folks closer to Mineral, or for those who just simply prefer hand-dipped ice cream, consider Mineral Shakes. Chuck Taylor opened the business last year in the former DMV and Mineral Town Office building on First Street.
