The Louisa County High School cross country teams have just one more race before their season ends – The Virginia High School League class 4 state championship.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams will advance to that race following respective second and third place finishes at the VHSL Region 4B championship on Nov. 1.

Leading the way for both teams were juniors Dillon Nelson and Sarah Seay, both of whom secured fourth place finishes. Nelson completed the race in 17 minutes, 20 seconds, while Seay finished the course in 20:27.

In the boys’ race, sophomore Everett Robinson and freshman Braden Wood followed Nelson with respective 14th and 15th place finishes. Robinson ran the course in 17:55, while Wood finished with a time of 17:56.

Rounding out the team score for the Lions were senior Carryk  Bhattal and freshman Matt Kalpak, coming in 26th and 27th place, respectively. The pair earned respective times of 18:25 and 18:28.
