Haley Rosson winds up for a pitch during Louisa’s final regular season home game against Charlottesville.

The Lions’ softball team played its final regular season games last week, taking on Jefferson District rivals Charlottesville and Fluvanna.

The Lions hosted the Charlottesville Black Knights on May 14 for their final regular season home game. A pair of high-scoring innings gave Louisa a 19-1 win.

After scoring two runs in the first inning, the Lions jumped ahead with a 10-run second inning, then added seven more in the third to reach their total. Charlottesville’s lone run came in the top of the third.

Olivia Chenault, Brie Tyler and Haley Rosson each scored three runs for Louisa. Brooke Vincze, Katey Parshall, Brady Shifflett and Saniya Jones each added two, and Taylor Fifer and Ellie Spotswood each scored once.

“We tend to struggle with slower pitching, but the girls adjusted well at the plate and got some good hits,” Lions’ Coach Susan Sharpe said.

The Lions tallied nine hits throughout the game. Chenault, Tyler and Jones each had two, while Shifflett, Rosson and Parshall each had one.

Rosson pitched all five innings for Louisa, striking out nine batters and giving up just two hits.
