The Louisa County High School speech and debate teams are making noise in their respective regional and super region tournaments.

The speech team competed in the Super Region 4B tournament on March 2, which was held at Chancellor High School. The Lions finished second in the competition as a team, while several members earned individual medals.

Megan Hall and Tyler McDaniel were first-place winners in the Dramatic Interpretation and Poetry events, respectively. India Bachelor garnered a second-place finish in Storytelling and Max Montana brought home a second-place finish in Extemporaneous Speaking for the Lions. Ashton Lonce finished fourth in the Impromtu Speaking event and will be the alternate should any of the top three finishers be unable to participate in the state tournament.

To earn their place in the super region tournament, the speech team first competed in the Region 4B tournament on Feb. 12 at Chancellor High School. The Lions earned a second-place team finish in that tournament as well, along with a half-dozen individual medals.

Montana, Hall, Lonce and McDaniel each took first in their respective events, while Bachelor placed second in Storytelling and Aleigha Chandler finished fourth in poetry.
