Several members of Louisa’s speech team competed at the Virginia High School League’s Class 4 state championship at Clover Hill High School March 30.
The five Lions who competed in the tournament combined for a sixth-place team finish for Louisa. Megan Hall earned a medal in the serious dramatic interpretation event, finishing second.
Also representing Louisa, Max Montana finished fourth in extemporaneous speaking, Tyler McDaniel placed fifth in poetry, Ashton Lonce was fifth in impromptu speaking and India Bachelor placed sixth in storytelling.
“This tournament was the most competitive we have attended all season,” Donna Love, the team’s coach, said. “All of the students who made it to the tournament can be proud of their accomplishments.”
While the speech team concludes its season, the Lions’ debate team is preparing for their shot at both individual and team state titles.
Five members advanced to states with a team second-place finish at the VHSL 4B Super Region tournament on March 23 at Clover Hill High School.
