Sarah Candeto returns a serve during Louisa’s home tennis match against Albemarle on March 26.

Louisa’s tennis teams faced tough competition against Jefferson District opponents last week, getting shut out by both Albemarle and Western Albemarle.

The Lions took on the Albemarle Patriots on March 26, with the girls’ team playing at home and the boys traveling to Charlottesville. Both teams lost by 9-0 margins.

Sarah Candeto won four games in the girls’ match against Eliza Sanusi in the number one singles set, falling 8-4. McKenzie Profitt and Nicole Harlow each won one game in singles play, and Profitt and Anna Groff scored a win in the number two doubles set, falling 8-1.

Alan Swasey and Nathan Gramling each won a pair of games for the boys in the number five and six singles sets, respectively. The duo then paired up for the doubles round, again getting a pair of games off their opponents.
