Louisa Town Council members unanimously appointed H. I. “Bud” Dulaney III to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Vice Mayor Andy Wade earlier this month.
Wade resigned from his seat on Sept. 8 as result of his move to another home outside of the town of Louisa. To serve on town council, members must reside inside the town.
Dulaney, who is retired after 33 years in law enforcement and public safety, had previously served on town council from 2008-2012. However, he opted not to seek reelection then because of obligations he had with a variety of local nonprofit organizations.
“Since that time, I’ve finished up my terms with both the Louisa Arts Center and Louisa Historical Society and with some of my other obligations in my life,” Dulaney said. “I don’t feel like my time is as tight as it once was.”
