Ben Froschauer tries to get the upper hand on his opponent during the Tommy Legge Memorial Invitational tournament
at Atlee High School.

The Louisa Lions’ wrestling team traveled to Atlee High School on Jan. 11-12 for the Coach Tommy Legge Memorial Invitational tournament. The Lions faced stiff competition from athletes from 20 Virginia schools.

Senior Ben Froschauer earned Louisa’s highest place finish of the tournament, finishing fourth in the 170-pound division. After opening with a pin over McLean High School’s Christian Caroll, Froschauer was knocked into the consolation bracket.

Froschauer faced Lee-Davis High School’s Jacob Whittington, scoring his second pin of the match. After receiving a bye in the next round, Froschauer faced Whittington again, scoring another victory, this time by an 11-10 decision. He then pinned Douglas S. Freeman’s Nathaniel Ramly to advance to the third-place match against Varina’s Antonio Cetrone. The pair fought for every advantage, with Cetrone eking out a 3-2 decision to take third place.

Froschauer finished fourth with a record of 4-2 for the day, including three pins.
