The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations of animal abuse made by a former employee of a Mineral grooming business.

On Saturday, Heather Powell posted photos to Facebook showing Karen Johnson, owner of Primp My Pet, grooming a dog using what appears to be a single grooming loop placed over the hips of the animal while its front paws rest in her lap. The pictures were taken two years ago.

“My wife was not abusing those dogs. We don’t win ‘Best of the Best’ three years in a row by abusing dogs,” co-owner Zack Johnson said, referring to a readers’ choice award.
