Following nine months of service, councilman Jessie Shupe has resigned from the Mineral Town Council.
Shupe, who began serving on the town council last July, presented his letter of resignation to council during their regular business meeting on April 8. He and his family will be moving out of town.
“This was a very difficult decision,” he said to council members.
Councilman Dr. William Thomas moved to accept Shupe’s resignation “with regret.”
“We’ve enjoyed your time with us and we wish you the best,” he said.
Councilman Ed Jarvis seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Councilman Doswell “Tex” Pierce then made a motion to appoint Lewis Keller to fill Shupe’s seat until a special election, which will be held in November in concurrence with the general election. The motion passed unanimously.
