Locals look for paw-fect days for pets

Many people and organizations work to ensure that the less fortunate in the community have enough to eat, but oftentimes, family pets are left to fend for themselves or forage for enough food because funds are tight.
One Louisa County couple has recognized this plight.
"Times are tough for people, much less for their animals," said Alice Leigh Mason. "I've been working with animal organizations in the area for the last 18 months and know that many times animals are given up to the shelter because owners can no longer feed them. I want to help make a difference and allow people to keep their pets."
