Obituaries November 19

Cladyne C. Barrett
Cladyne Cottrell Barrett, 88, of Kents Store, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009. 
She was born in Colorado City, Texas,  the daughter of the late Clay Rex Cottrell and Opal Robertson Cottrell.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Barrett Sr. MSGT USAF (Ret), of Williamsburg; three brothers, Billy Rex Cottrell CWO-4 USN (Ret), of Kents Store, Monte B. Cottrell GM 2/C USN (Ret), of El Cajon, California, Donald  H. Cottrell, of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Ruth M. Cottrell of Iowa Park, Texas, Hazel C. Geissler, of Kents Store, and Marianne C. Epps, of Richmond; one granddaughter, Meredith A. McLeod, of  Winston-Salem North Carolina;  and a son-in-law, Harold K. Richardson, of Kents Store.
Cladyne and her husband, J.C., who served 21 years in the US Air Force, were stationed at many bases across the United States.  During World War II she worked at Lockheed Aircraft in California and during the Korean War, while J.C. was in Japan, she worked as the bookkeeper at Sears in Charlottesville. While stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas, she and J.C. taught bridge and ran the Duplicate Bridge Club.   She loved her family, cooking, gardening, reading and bridge, in that order. 
When her health declined she played computer bridge with others from all around the world, maintaining the highest level possible. 
Cladyne is survived by three daughters, Bobette B. Richardson, of Kents Store, Monte B. "Betsy" Travis, and her husband, Ted, of Gum Spring, Kay B. McLeod, and her husband, Conrad, of Weaverville, North Carolina; three sons, Barry D. Barrett Sr. Airman USAF (Ret), of Goochland, Clay Anthony Barrett, and his wife, Brenda, of Louisa, Steven H. Barrett, and his wife, Brenda, of Kents Store; two sisters, Carol C. Childress, of Kents Store, Patricia C. Williams, and her husband, Thomas T., of Richmond; three brothers David F. Cottrell MSG E-8 USA (Ret), and his wife,  Terry, of Richmond, Jerry L. Cottrell Airman USAF (Ret), and his wife, Linda, of Englewood, Tennessee,  and Michael V. Cottrell Sr Airman USAF (Ret), and his wife, Celeste, of Kents Store; 14 grandchildren, K. Shawn Haneyand his wife, Katherine, of Burkeville, Lisa C. Haney, of Palmyra, James Barrett McLeod Airman USAF (Ret), of Winston-Salem North Carolina, Barry D. Barrett Jr., Jessica M. Barrett and Robert Kent Barrett all of Richmond, John Lindsey Barrett USMC Okinawa Japan, John Clay Barrett, and his wife, Deborah, of Palmyra, Lee Ann Reynolds, and her husband, Chad, of Bumpass, Spencer L. Barrett, of Partlow, Elijah J. Barrett and Rebekah E. Barrett of Louisa, Gary Wayne Gibson, and his wife, Casey, of Trevilians, and Brandy Gibson, of Zion Crossroads; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family received friends at Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, on Saturday November 14. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.

Myrtle L. Bickley
Myrtle Louise Bickley, 80, of Louisa, passed away on November 16, 2009, at her residence.
She was born August 7, 1929, in Delaware, to John Hunley and Minnie Boyer Hunley. Myrtle retired from Louisa Manufacturing.  She was a member of Yanceyville Christian Church,  Louisa.
Myrtle is survived by her son, Ralph E. Bickley, and his wife, Debra, of Louisa; a brother, George Hunley, of Richmond; a sister, Bea Buckler, of Maryland; two granddaughters, Bobbie Jo Bickley, of Louisa, and Virginia Bickley, of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Smith, of Louisa, and Alyssa Bickley, of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Edwin Bickley Jr. and her parents.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. 
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 20, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yanceyville Christian Church, P.O. Box 1007, Louisa, VA, 23093.

Christopher S. Hallauer
Christopher Scott Hallauer, 50, of Louisa, passed away at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
He was a member of the United States National Guard.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Cecilia Hallauer.
He is survived by his brothers, John K. Hallauer, and his wife, Janet, of Washington, R. Wayne Hallauer, Ron A Hallauer, and his wife, Joni, all of Fairfax; a sister; Maureen A Lynch, and her husband, James, of Spotsylvania; and six nieces and nephews, LeAnn Hallauer, Lauren Hallauer, Karl Hallauer, J. Alan Lynch Jr., Kali Lynch and Zachary Lynch.
Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Haley,  were held at at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 16, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.

James E. Jones
James Edward "Jimmy" Jones departed this life on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at his home in Fairfax surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 14, 1944, in Louisa, to the late Russell Lee Sr. and Elnora Jones Lee. 
He was baptized at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church.  He graduated from A.G. Richardson High School and later moved to Northern Virginia.  He worked for the Hyman Construction Company and then Fairfax County School System where he was a building supervisor.  He remained employed there until his death.  He was owner and operator of J & J Enterprises in Fairfax.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Wanda; his daughter, Lydia Carter; and his granddaughter, Jasmine Carter; eight sisters, Shirley Wynn, and her husband, Joseph, Mary Seaberry, and her husband, James, Irma Christmas, and her husband, Andrew, Deborah Robinson, and her husband, Austin, Gloria Washington, and her husband, Ralph, Terry and Shelia Lee, all of Louisa, and Elnora Grooms, and her husband, Melvin, of Charlottesville; three brothers, Robert Lee, and his wife, Florence, of Buckingham, John Lee, and his wife, Mattie, of Louisa and Russell Lee Jr., of Louisa; one uncle, Willie Jones Jr. and his wife, Rose, of Landover, Maryland; one aunt, Julia Winn, of Washington, D.C.; his son-like friend, Johnny Thomas and friends Jesse Deskins and Leonad Alexander.

Mitchell R. Leslie
Mitchell Robert Leslie, 42, most recently of Mineral, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, after a life long battle with congenital heart disease.
Mitchell was born July 13, 1967, in Prince Georges County, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert Harold Leslie, in December 2006. 
He is survived by his parents, Robert E. Leslie and Deloice R. Leslie; a younger brother, Ronald R. Leslie; five nieces and nephews; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
Funeral services wereheld at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, at Woodward Funeral Home. Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral.

Helen S. Parrish
Helen Scott Smith Parrish, 85, of Louisa, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
She was born December 5, 1923, in Louisa, to Everette B. Smith and Gertrude Badgett Smith.
Helen was a member of South Anna Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge of Louisa.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Parrish Bateman; her brothers, Kenneth Smith and Nelson Smith; and her sister, Dorothy Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifton Parrish; and seven siblings.
A memorial service, conducted by the Rev. Steve McClary, was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.  Burial will be private.

Eugene K. Wilson
Eugene Kyle Wilson, 84, of Mineral, died on Monday, November 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond.
Born on November 12, 1925, in Louisa County, he was the son of the late Clarence Quarles Wilson and Ethel Mays Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a life-long home building contractor and co-owner of Wilson Brothers Construction; a lifetime member of Mineral Baptist Church; a loving husband and father and a great provider for his family.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. A Bronze Star recipient, Wilson was a rifleman who fought his way across France and Germany with the Fighting 69th Infantry Division, helping to liberate Europe.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his four brothers, all of which fought in World War II, Harry Quarles Wilson, Clarence Mays Wilson, Marshall Wade Wilson and Edsel Willard Quarles Wilson; and one sister, Vivian Marie Wilson MacKay.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ada Sharpe Wilson, of Mineral; two daughters, Bernice Wilson Kube, and her husband, Edward, of Mineral, Jeanette Wilson Wade, and her husband, Thomas, of Chesterfield; and a son, Douglas Mays Wilson, and his wife, Kammie, of Goochland; five grandchildren, Janelle Kube, of Henrico, Trey Kube, of Mineral, Danielle and Elizabeth Wade, of Chesterfield and Brandi Wilson, of Goochland.
Pallbearers include Trey Kube, Wade Wilson, Larry Wilson, Billy Sharpe, Ernest Sprouse and William Pierce. Granddaughters Janelle Kube, Brandi Wilson, Danielle Wade and Elizabeth Wade will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mineral Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 20, at Mineral Baptist Church. Internment will be in the church cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
