Obituaries February 4

Carl W. Baber
In the early morning hours of February 1, 2010, the Lord took Carl home to live with Him in eternity. 
Carl Wills Baber was born June 24, 1952, in Richmond, to Carl and Mary Dodson Baber.  Carl loved the Lord and served Him through joyously helping others. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl W. Baber Sr. 
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother; his wife of 35 years, Patricia Anderson Baber; his daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Robert Rea; his son, Jared Anderson Baber; his granddaughters Ariel Noelle Baber and Kayla Thurman; his sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Charles Smith; and his two precious Schnauzers, Ziggy and Max. 
Carl worked for Dominion Virginia Power for 38 years at the West Broad Street location.  He will be greatly missed by his family and his church families at Bethany Christian Church and Emmanuel Holiness Church. 
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, at Bethany Christian Church, 2402 Bethany Church Road, Bumpass, 23024, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Lois C. Bachman
Lois Muriel Courson Bachman, 86, of Courbach Farm, Mineral, died on Friday, January 29, 2010. 
She is survived by her three sons, Bruce, Miles, and Glenn Courson. 
Memorial service information at Gilboa Christian Church will be available when a date has been determined.

Randall E. England
Randall Eugene England, 60, of Gum Spring, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010, at his home. 
Survivors include his wife, Shearin Gammon England; his daughters, Christina Renee England and Rebecca Lauren England; his parents, Fred and Frances England, of Palm Bay, Florida; his brother, Robert England, and his wife, Kathy, of Addison, New York; his sister, Dixie McLaughlin, and her husband, Allen, of Loudon, Tennessee; his sister, Cheryl Noren, and her husband, Doug, of Palm Bay, Florida; his sister, Mary Garvin, and her husband, Ken, of Gainesville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 
He was a lifetime member of Holly Grove Volunteer Rescue Squad and had worked closely with Louisa County Sheriff's Department regarding communication services.  He worked with the International Mission Board as a sound engineer for almost 25 years and was a very active member of Oakland Baptist Church. 
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, at Oakland Baptist Church, Gum Spring.

Conrad C. Gammon
Conrad Clinton Gammon, 33, of Louisa, passed away at his residence on January 27, 2010.
He was born November 11, 1976, in Charlottesville.
Conrad is survived by his father, J. Lee Gammon, and his wife, Sharon, of Bumpass; his mother, Edna B. Donovan, of Louisa; his brother, Calvin L. Gammon, and his wife, Andrea, of Bumpass; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a close cousin, Johnny L. Gammon.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Denny Burnette, were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral.

Harry C. Gannaway
Harry Clay Gannaway, 80, of Gordonsville, died on Sunday January 31, 2010, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville.
Born December 27, 1929, in Gordonsville, he was a son of the late Bernard C. Gannaway Sr. and Margaret Goode. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard "Tinker" Gannaway; and one sister, Margaret R. Henley.
Harry was a lifetime farmer and resident of Gordonsville.
He is survived by a brother, Charles Rheinlander, of Lakewood, New Jersey; one niece, Phyllis Ledford, of Glen Allen; and a host of friends.
Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Carmon Hartsfield, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday February 4, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Gordonsville. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Arrangements are being made by Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville.

William J. Jones
William J. Jones, 27, of Mineral, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010.
He is survived by his parents, James C. and Billie J. Jones, three sisters, Laura Kelley, and her husband, Chris, Shelly Chesley, and her husband, Paul and Kimberly Pell; other siblings Tommy, Wendy, James Jr., Debbie and Kim; his girlfriend, Jennifer Dabney; his daughter, Kaitlyn Justice Jones; his maternal grandfather, William Wright; his paternal grandmother, Ruby Jones; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Lacy Funeral Home, Rt. 522, Mineral.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 5, at Dogwood Baptist Church, Newline Rd. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Dorothy E. Keller
Dorothy Elizabeth Keller, 92, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010.
She was born December 5, 1917, in Bumpass, to the late Cliff I. Bumpass and Marian Parrish Bumpass. Dorothy graduated from Beaverdam High School and attended Smithfield Business College in Richmond after which she worked for DeJarnette and Paul Real Estate Company.
She is survived by Eugenia Bumpass, Lewis A. Keller III, and his wife, Andrea, Edwin C. Keller, and his wife, Jane, all of Mineral, Robert B. Keller, and his wife, Sarah, of Louisa, Barbara Blakemore, and her husband, Bill, of Hanover, Mary Wiltsee Hatt, and her husband, Earl, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Virginia Shannon, and her husband, Joe, of Ocala, Florida, and Payton Randolph Keller, and his wife, Kathy, of Chicago, Illinois.
A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Marian K. Windel, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.

Fannie C. Moore
Fannie Catherine Moore, 64, of Mineral, went to be with Jesus on Thursday January 28, 2010, at the University of Virginia Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn M. Minor of Leesburg; a son, Christopher J. Moore, of Laurel, Maryland; a brother, Robert S. Moore, of Mineral; three granddaughters, Dominique Moore, Christina Moore and Troi Minor; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The remains will lie in state on Friday, February 5, from 12 p.m. until the hour of services at 1 p.m. at Rising Sun Baptist Church 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral. The Rev. Frederick Sales will officiate. Interment will be will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Thomasson Watson Funeral Service, Inc., Louisa.

Capt. Guy E. Myslivy
Ret. Navy Capt. Guy Edward Myslivy, 64, of Louisa, formerly of Fairfax, passed away at his residence on January 28, 2010. 
He was born October 10, 1945 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Edward V. Myslivy and Jean Jasczak Myslivy. Guy was a past member of the Elk Lodge in Orange Park, Florida. He was a member of the Association of Naval Aviation in Arlington and M.O.A.A,
Guy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary C. Myslivy; three sons, Jason F. Myslivy, of Louisa, Brian M. Myslivy, and his wife, Susannah, of Manakin-Sabot, Aaron J. Myslivy, and his wife, Kandice, of Winchester; two sisters, Janice Mareko, and her husband, Saka, of Hilo, Hawaii, Cynthia Quiroz, and her husband, Fred, of Kauai, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Dylan, Hayden and Teagan; and two nephews, Casildo and Nieto.
A memorial service will be held at 12:45 p.m. on May 27, at Ft. Myer Chapel with full Navy honors. Inerment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.

Roy D. Perkins Sr.
Roy Dennis Perkins Sr., 75, of Louisa, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010.
Mr. Perkins was born on October 28, 1934, in Louisa. 
He was preceded in death by parents, James Lithwood Perkins and Lila Payne Perkins. 
He is survived by children, Patricia Perkins Halley, of Ruffin, North Carolina, Roy Dennis Perkins Jr., and his wife, Catherine, of Louisa, Bonnie Perkins Presley, of Charlottesville, and Bobby Michael Perkins, of Reidsville, North Carolina; his eight grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; one brother, James L. Perkins Jr., and wife, Dora Lee, of Troy; one sister, Lillie Mae Bishop, of Keswick; and his former wife, Lillie Mae Perkins, of Louisa.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Riggins, were held at 11 a.m. on February 3, at Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store. Interment will be at Bybee's Road Baptist Church, Fluvanna, at a later date.

Berton J. Rogers
Berton John Rogers,  73, of Bumpass, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 30, 2010, after his battle with ALS. 
He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, LaDonna Laws Rogers; their daughter, Tracy Winslow (Mark) of Sandston, Kathy Wilmot (Ted) and his children, Daniel and Kendall of Hopewell; his two sons, Kevin Rogers of New York, and Jeffrey Rogers of New York; and a daughter, Cindy Moore, of New York; three sisters, Kay Cammer, of Margaretsville, New York, Estella Nolte (Kenneth), of New York, and Clara Stapchuk (George), of New York; two brothers, James Rogers, of New York, and William Rogers (Jane), of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
He is preceded in death by one brother, George Rogers, and one sister, Ellen Graves. 
He was retired from Bear Island Paper Company in Ashland, where he was an electrician for more than 25 years.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend.  He had a life-long love for horses that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, at the Nelsen Funeral Home Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where a reception will follow.

John W. Seay
John Wesley Seay, 74, formerly of Louisa, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was a native of Spotsylvania and had lived in Stafford for the past 42 years. He was the son of the late Willie and Bernice Seay. John was a graduate of Spotsylvania High School. He had worked as a supervisor at Fredericksburg Dist. Co., a salesman at Kayak Pools and retired as a salesman from Dooley Pools. John will be remembered for his love of sports, especially basketball which he was a star player for Spotsy High School.
He is survived by his wife of more than 48 years Phyllis Anita Seay; his four children, Anita Moran, and her fiancˇ, Ron Pompii, of Stafford, Cindy Ellis, of Richmond, Angela Roviralta, and her husband, Bill, of Mechanicsville, and Cheryl Green, and her husband, Richard, of Milford; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life, conducted by the Rev. Kevin James, was held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, at Woodward Funeral Home. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.

Lottie S. Stephens
Lottie Mae Smith Stephens, 65, of Gordonsville, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, after a lengthy illness in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born May 15, 1944, in Oxford, North Carolina, to Willie Graham Smith and the late Blanche Smith. She was the oldest of two daughters.
Mrs. Stephens received her early education in Granville County, North Carolina, where she graduated from Toler High School. She earned her bachelor's of science degree in elementary education from Elizabeth City State University in 1965.
An elementary teacher in Louisa County for more than 28 years, she was a nurturing and compassionate educator. She enjoyed talking to everyone she met and her smile and laugh was infectious. Mrs. Stephens' hobbies included decorating, shopping and fishing. She also thoroughly enjoyed her extensive collection of Steinbach Nutcrackers and Boyd's Bears.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her devoted husband, Lewis P. Stephens; her loving daughter, Teri S. Cain, and her husband, Christopher; and a precious granddaughter, Peyton Elise; her father, Willie Graham Smith; her sister, Willa Dean Thurston; her brother-in-law, Donald Thurston; and her sister-in-law, Thelmarene Hooper; her aunt, Clara Isley; an uncle, Bowman Burton; nieces and nephews, among a host of relatives and lifelong friends; special friends, Debbie Umstadter, Maureen Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Carter, Rev. and Mrs. Gene Lee, Virginia Bailey, Al Bogden and the Rev. Mary Thomas.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, at First Baptist Church, Louisa. Interment was in at Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral.

Mary E. Trent
Mary Elizabeth Trent entered eternal rest on January 29, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Mamie Luck; her brother, Ira Luck; and her sisters Ella Brooks and Clara Carter.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Herbert A. Trent; her son, Dale Trent; her daughter, Tammy Palmer, and her husband, Keith; four grandchildren, Andy and Danny Trent, Zac and Matt Palmer; and numerour nieces and nephews.
Mary will be remembered most for her love of family.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, at Bliley's Funeral Home, Staples Mill Chapel.  Interment was in Westhampton Memorial Park.
