Anita M. Banning 

Anita M. Banning, 77, of Louisa County, died at home on Thursday, October 31, 2013.

Anita was born in Gt. Yarmouth, England, on Oct. 7, 1936, to Herbert and Ivy Simmons. She married Robert J. Banning on April 10, 1954, while he was stationed at Sculthorpe RAF Station with the U.S. Air Force. In November of that year, they returned to the United States.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J.; two sons, Duane and his wife, Pam, and Robert A. and his wife, Barbie; five grandchildren, Rachel, Nigel, Rebecca, Chelsea and Mitchell. In the United Kingdom she is survived by a sister, June Sibbons; and three brothers, Keith, Benjamin and Max Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; and her brother, Roy.

A service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Woodward Funeral Home chapel. Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral.

Arrangements were made by Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.

Hallie S. Dickinson

Hallie S. Dickinson, 77, of Mineral, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Louisa Health Care Center.

She was the daughter of the late William J. and Eva T. Spicer and the widow of Robert A. Dickinson.

She had worked as a seamstress for Woolfolk Manufacturing.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Alice Tanner of Jarrettsville, Maryland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.

A reception will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Mansfield Road., Louisa.

Arrangements are being made by Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.

Susan D.  Stewart 

Susan Darlene Stewart, 47, of Louisa, passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 3, 2013, with her family at her side.

She was a member of Mineral Baptist Church and had worked for Louisa County Public Schools.

She is the daughter of Edward and Shirley Soifer of Richmond; her husband, Robert C. Stewart; a son, Kyle P. Stewart; a daughter, Cathie Stewart, all of Louisa; one brother-in-law, David Stewart of Dale City; a sister, Nancy Kidwell and her husband, Barry, of Fredericksburg; her mother-in-law, Zoe Stewart; two nephews, Nathan and Matthew Kidwell, and a step-nephew, Paul Kidwell, all of Fredericksburg.

The funeral, conducted by the Rev. Steve Huffman, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at Woodward Funeral Home.Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral.

Memorial donations may be made to the UVA Cancer Center, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville,VA 22908.

Homer A. Walkup III 

Homer Allen Walkup III died of esophageal cancer and its consequences on October 27, 2013.

Allen was a graduate of Hammond High School in Alexandria. He attended the Naval Academy and later worked for the Central Intelligence Agency retiring in 1993. While he had a very serious side, he enjoyed life. He was a long-time resident of Annandale before moving to his home on Lake Anna.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas Walkup and Michael Walkup (Patricia); their mother, Barbara Walkup (divorced); his grandson, Keegan Walkup; his granddaughter, Alix Walkup; his brother, Randolph Walkup (Elizabeth); his sister, Pamela Walkup; his brother-in-law, Chesley Barber; and his companion, Sandra “Missy” McCartney.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., at his home in Lake Anna, on Saturday, Nov. 23.
