Jean M. Holland

Jean Moss Holland, 73, entered peacefully and quiet eternal rest on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, Arlington.

She is survived by her son, Col. Marlon “Keith” Beck (ret.) and daughter-in-law Col. Yvonne Prettyman-Beck (ret.); two grandchildren, Melissa Beck and Marlon Beck II; one sister, Shirley Wells and brother-in-law Major Wells; sister-in-law, Helen Moss; two nephews, Darryl Moss and Major “MJ” Wells Jr.; and a host of well-loved cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Service will be held at 12 p.m. at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Mineral. Interment will follow in the Moss Family Cemetery.

Arrangements are being made by Thomasson Watson Funeral Service, Inc., Louisa.

Linden B. Keffer

Linden B. Keffer, preacher, husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed from this earthly life September 13, 2012.

He was born December 12, 1947, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, to Joseph L. Keffer and Iola P. Keffer, both deceased. He was residing in Louisa County at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley M. Keffer; his son, David B. Keffer; and his daughter, Amy Keffer Bleach; two grandchildren, Ethan and Elliot Bleach; his brothers, Douglas and Vaughan Keffer; his sisters, Sandra Keffer and Karen Keffer Waldron.

A memorial service will be held at Bonnie Brae Church of Christ, 7610 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonnie Brae Church of Christ.

Edward O. Knowles

Edward Otis Knowles, 66, of Chesterfield, formerly of Louisa, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie T. Knowles; his father, Fred Knowles; his stepmother, Mary Knowles; his sister, Norma K. Tatum; and two brothers, Fred Knowles Jr. and Robert Knowles.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce T. Knowles; one daughter, Robin Pentecost and her husband, Paul; one brother, Tom Knowles and his wife, Jean; one sister, Brenda Dabney; his sisters-in-law, Bettie Knowles and Sheryl Knowles; many nieces and nephews and his best friend, Charlie.

Ed was a highly-decorated marine who served in Vietnam.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

Arrangements were made by Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home, Richmond.


Martin O. Kronander Jr. 

Martin Oliver “Marty” Kronander Jr., 52, of Louisa, died Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Louisa County.

Born October 1, 1959, in Charleior Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was employed by Mike’s Glass & Mirror in Orange.

Marty and his brother David owned and operated Kronander Construction Co. for 15 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and was a was a member of the Rappahannock Valley Football Association for 34 years.

Marty is survived by his parents, Martin Oliver Sr., and Betty Mae Mustbrook Kronander of Louisa; his wife, Constance Lynn Kronander of Louisa; two sons,Taylor Connor and  Martin Kyle Kronander, both of Louisa; three brothers, Kevin Knute Kronander of Louisa, Michael Albert Kronander of Richmond, David Eugene Kronander and his wife, Tammy, of Louisa;  seven nephews and a niece.

Funeral services, conducted by Pastor James Kniseley, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Preddy Funeral Home in Orange. Interment will follow in Graham Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions be made to the Rappahannock Valley Football Officials Association (RVFOA) Scholarship Fund,  P.O. Box 193,   Fredricksburg, VA 22401.

Marga H. Pettey

Marga Helene Pettey, 81, of Louisa, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at home.

Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Diedrich H. and Helene H. Lilkendey

Survivors include one sister, Elfi Mau of Bremerhaven Germany; two sons, Jim Pettey of Louisa, Marshall Pettey of Orlando, Florida; one daughter, Angie Hoyt of Milwaukie, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one niece and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Pettey; and a son, Andrew L. Pettey.

All services were private. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
