The town of Mineral will hold a public hearing on closing the alleyway between lots on town block 146 between Ninth Street and the town limit. Michael and Susan Groome own most of the lots on the block and hope to build a residential house that would span the alleyway.

The town of Mineral will hold a public hearing concerning the closing of an alleyway through a block of residential lots in town prior to its regular business meeting on Dec. 10.

Michael and Susan Groome own several lots on town block 146, which is bordered by Ninth Street to the north and the town limit to the south. The block consists of 21 residential lots, of which the Groomes own 15. Their plan is to build a residential home on the property, spanning six lots on the property, three on each side of the alleyway in question.

The Groomes first approached town council about the matter at council’s regular business meeting on Aug. 13.
