School board member explains

I know the events within the last year hasve been extremely tough for many of our parents and school community. I hope you will allow me an opportunity to explain to some and reaffirm to others who Allen Jennings really is.

I am the same man who taught shop classes in Louisa County Public Schools for many years, the same man that has been a member of my Masonic lodge for many years and the same man who has been a church trustee for many years. I am the same man who educated my daughters in Louisa County Public Schools.

A few weeks ago, I was asked by the defense attorney to be a character witness for a former student who had been arrested in regards to a serious crime.  I declined, but was subpoenaed anyway. During my cross-examination, I thought that my response was “no.” I did not want this person back on school property but it was not perceived that way.

I would never intentionally put any student in harm’s way. I have a grandson who attends Louisa County Public Schools. I would not jeopardize his or any student’s safety. I have always been supportive of our teachers and administrators in making our schools safe.
