School notification system keeps families in the know

With the beginning of the second semester, the odds of bad weather are on the rise and when school schedules change, you need to know immediately. To help keep those days as smooth as possible for your family, Louisa County Public Schools has launched the Blackboard Connect Communications System. Through this site, LCPS parents are able to manage contact information and preferences.

All notifications are now handled through the site, with the home phone number on file for each child set as the default method of contact. Families can access the new system at, then click “Sign Me Up” to set up an account.

To create an account, families need an active email address, the student’s Student ID Number, and the phone number or email address that LCPS has on file for the student.  Once families log in, they can change, update or add numbers, opt for text or email messages, or even opt out of certain message categories (not including emergency). Users can add additional students by clicking their user name in the upper right corner and selecting “Contact Information.”

LCPS also notifies families of school schedule changes via the LCPS Facebook and Twitter pages, the school system website at, email announcements through the weekly update subscriber list, and local radio and television stations.
