Caitlyn Davis, of Tammy Brown’s cosmetology class, provided guests of the CTE Showcase with hair cuts and styles and hand massages Feb. 22, 2018, as members of the community came to see which technical and vocational skills were being taught at Louisa County High School’s Career and Technical Education department. Haircuts were $5 each.

The Louisa County High School Career and Technology Education Department will host its second annual CTE Showcase night in conjunction with the high school’s parent-teacher conference night Feb. 28 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Bo Bundrick, CTE director, said this year they are planning a multi-tiered event where they will showcase all of the CTE classes and what they each have to offer prospective students.

The second component involves hosting current and prospective business and industry sponsors of the program at a dinner in which they will hear a presentation.

In addition, culinary students will offer a $5 barbecue dinner with all the trimmings, cosmetology students will provide $5 pedicures and automotive students will provide $5 oil changes. Appointments for the pedicure and oil changes need to be made in advance at https://www.lcpscte.org/showcase.

A STEAM Cup challenge is a third aspect of Thursday night’s program. Fifth-graders from the four elementary schools will be given a set of materials and a project that teams can work within a specified time frame. The challenge will take place at 5 p.m.in the main CTE hallway. The winning team will be awarded a trophy.
