Olivia Saunders won two individual events and added a relay title for the Louisa Gators swim team during its first Jefferson Swim League meet against the city of Charlottesville Swordfish Wednesday, June 11 at Washington Park Pool.
Saunders dominated the girls’ 8-and-under division for the Gators. She won the 25 backstroke with a time of 20.47 seconds. Later in the meet, Saunders touched the wall first in the 25 freestyle (46.75).
She also teamed with Meghan Hyck, Kylie Haskins and Madison Hiter to win the 100-medley relay (2:02.64).
Louisa’s girls team won seven events total and added several runner-up finishes during the opening meet of the summer season.
Hiter won the 25 breaststroke (28.22) in the girls’ 8-and-under division.
Emma Delbridge won the 100 freestyle (1:20.43) and was second in the 50 butterfly (38.92) for the Gators in the girls’ 13-14 division. Talia Tanner also won the 50 breaststroke (46.65) in the same age group.
In the 15-18 division, Abigail Delbridge won the 50 freestyle (32.44) for the Gators.
Hyer finished second in the 25 backstroke (28.25) in the girls’ 8-and-under division.
Alison Soriano earned silver in the 50 freestyle (40.84) in the girls’ 9-10 division. Eleanor Pekary placed second in the 100 freestyle (1:41.22) in the same age group.
In the girls’ 15-18 division, Savannah Morris was second in the 50 backstroke (38.87). She also teamed with Emma Maddon, Keely Wiese and Morgan Minter to finish second in the 200-medley relay (2:26.00).
On the boys’ side, Rett Delbridge, Kyler Soriano and Caleb Straley posted individual and relay wins for the Louisa Gators.
