The Citizens’ Scorecard: Louisa County School Board’s Sept. 25 called meeting

• The school board’s called meeting began in closed session to discuss personnel and legal matters.

After returning from closed session, board members unanimously awarded a $11.2 million contract to Oyster Point Construction, headquartered in Newport News, for the construction of a new Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, contingent upon Board of Supervisors approval and architectural and legal review.

• Board members approved (5-1) purchase orders totaling $54,859 for a Virginia Department of Education consultant, additional damage analysis for Louisa County High School and 600 linear feet of plywood fencing for the high school’s demolition.
