Then and now

To celebrate The CV’s 100 year anniversary, we changed things up a bit.

Reflecting on the first 1912 edition hanging in the office, we decided to replicate the look of the original paper on select pages, particularly the front pages of the A and B sections.

The yellowing is not a giant coffee stain, it’s a color plate placed on the page to help create that old newspaper look.

Single columns on the front page, jagged headlines and a limited number of photographs help revisit the reading experience from 100 years ago.

Included in this week’s edition are numerous photographs from yesteryear. You can find them throughout the pages under the headline: A step back in time.

We value our longtime, loyal readers and our newer readers as well. To help us celebrate our 100th anniversary, and to show our appreciation, we invite you to attend our Holiday Open House on Thursday, Dec. 13.

We will have danishes, coffee and juice from 8 until 11 a.m., followed by hot dogs, chips and drinks from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The CV will have raffles, calendars, tote bags and $10 off subscriptions.

We hope to see you here.

(Here was a word that was used quite often, excessively in fact, in older editions. Such as this front page headline from Feb. 6, 1964: Distemper Cases  Reported Here. As a way to honor all of our past editions, we included one here on the front page.)
