The Virginia Renaissance Faire opens May 11 at Lake Anna Winery. In its 18th year, the event offers a variety of fun activities for all ages and draws 20,000 visitors.

The Virginia Renaissance Faire will open for its 18th season at Lake Anna on May 11 for five weekends of historical fun and merriment.

See full-armored and historical real-steel medieval combat performed by the expertly trained and equipped Order of the Marshall. The Order of the Marshall exists to recreate swordsmanship, chivalry and knighthood in a fun and educational way. Thrill to the Blue Run Jousters and meet the knights and their horses.

Like many towns in Elizabethan England, the village of Staffordshire supports its own militia comprised of local townsfolk who pledge to defend the crown in times of need. You too can join the militia and learn pike drills, defensive formations and the history of Renaissance-era citizen soldiers.

Visitors can hear the best entertainment available with live acts, such as the Jackdaws with contemporary and traditional Irish Rock, and the world-famous Rogues with their raucous pipes, drums and unique genre of Celtic music. Discover a fantastical array of activity amidst the bustle of a busy market day in the village.
