Pleasants Landing has partnered with local advocacy group The Encumbered to produce a special festival series this summer, beginning with its opening event June 17.
The Love the Lake Festival June 17 is a combination of three different events rolled into one super-event, according to organizers.
The festival includes a car show competition, an outdoor market with farmers, artisans and crafts, and a live band performing a combination of classic rock and country music. There is something for everyone at the upcoming event.
The festival is presented through a partnership of local businesses and their efforts, and will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public thanks to the support of generous donors: Dukes Fuel of Mineral; Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg; Mid Atlantic Water Sports, located at Pleasants Landing; Pleasants Landing; Dominion Raceway of Thornburg; Station 8 Garage; Dockside Development of Lake Anna. There are many more and other business owners are invited to join in. There are also limited space for various farmers and crafters to be included in the June 17 event.
For those interested in the event’s car show, the prizes this year are bigger and better than ever, but space is filling up fast. The “people’s choice award” is a free half-day pontoon rental, and other prizes include trophies, raceway tickets, restaurant gift cards and more.
In the Future Farmers of America program, students participate in various events involving community service, leadership, competitions and fundraisers.
