The Central Virginian published this photograph in September 1976 of Wilson Bickley cutting a stalk of tobacco on his family’s farm on Route 208 near Bells Crossroads. The accompanying article said that at the time, Louisa County produced more acres of sun-cured tobacco than any other county in the state of Virginia. Bickley and his brothers had 5.21 acres in tobacco that year.
