Free tax help available at Louisa Library

AARP Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service offered to taxpayers with low-and middle-income, giving special attention to those age 60 and older. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will offer help with personal income tax returns and e-filing.

Sites are open through April 15 through the Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Nelson and Louisa service area.

Locally, more than 65 volunteers help more than 2,700 area residents file state and federal tax returns.

Participants should bring a photo ID, the Social Security cards for anyone claimed on the tax return, and all appropriate tax-related forms.

The previous year’s returns also are helpful.

The Louisa County Library is located at 881 Davis Highway, Mineral. The Tax-Aide site will be open Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m.
