Residents and summer visitors to Lake Anna have a new option for summer eats.

Lakeside Deli, owned and operated by Melissa and Jason Janeck, is the newest addition to The Boardwalk just off Zachary Taylor Highway. Located under Tim’s Restaurant and next to Moo Thru Ice Cream, the deli opened its doors on June 15 and is already finding its footing.

“[Business] has been steady,” Jason said. “The word has been getting around. We’ve had a lot of local residents come in.”

The deli offers a number of sandwich options, including an Italian sub, a pastrami Reuben and a classic club sandwich. There is also a build-your-own-sandwich option.

Also on the menu are grilled panini sandwiches which get a little more creative. Options include a turkey, bacon and pimento cheese spread sandwich and a ham swiss and plum chutney.

“If you don’t like pimento cheese spread, I highly suggest you try it,” Jason said. “It comes out fabulous, and the ham, swiss and plum chutney has an interesting taste to it.”

In addition to sandwiches, the deli has several salads on their menu and also offers pizza with the option for a gluten-free cauliflower crust.

To-go orders can be called in and picked up at the deli. Though it is not currently available, Jason said an option for ordering online will soon be available on the deli’s website and Facebook page.

“If you’re on the water, you can call ahead and you don’t have to wait for your stuff, or if you’re driving down on a Saturday, you can have your order ready to go when you come through,” Jason said.

“We’re excited to be here,” he continued. “We’re looking forward to picking up and catering to the locals.”

The deli is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. For more information, call (540) 894-0800 or visit
