The Louisa County Board of Supervisors approved buying the former Virginia Community Bank headquarters on Industrial Drive.
Blue Ridge Bank, which acquired the building along with the rest of the bank in 2018, does not need the space anymore, with most employees working remotely.
The county became interested in the bank building when it learned that the health department’s lease on their mobile unit was almost up. The department had previously expressed an interest in a more permanent location after being next to the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center for the past decade.
The 5.9 acres that the building sits on and the adjacent four acres are assessed at about $2 million. That is the price quoted in the draft sales contract approved by the supervisors this week.
