LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Tallying the ills of the new presidency

To the editor:

In the last four months, enough fentanyl has been seized on the Texas border to kill all 21.5 million people in the state of New York. Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine.

The Mexican cartels are collecting $4,000 to $7,000 per person to smuggle illegal immigrants across the border. Our president has offered the illegals sanctuary from prosecution, free housing, health care, education and more at the expense of taxpayers, and instructed the Border Patrol to allow anyone connected with a child to enter the country. The federal government is flying or busing illegals into the cities and towns deep in our country and leaving them for the municipal governments to fund and care for (see Chattanooga).

The official administration position is that the border is closed. Vice President Kamala Harris was placed in charge of the border over 67 days ago but has yet to visit the area or take any meaningful action.

Consumer prices increased in April at the highest rate since 2008. The president canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline, eliminating 11,000 direct jobs and tens of thousands of indirect jobs. Then he waived sanctions on the Russian pipeline, allowing them to export oil to Germany. Gasoline averaged $1.90 a year ago and we were oil-independent as a country. Now it averages $3.04 nationally and we are again dependent. Huge and growing national debt will have to be paid off by future generations enduring severe inflation and a lowered standard of living (see Argentina and Venezuela). Thomas Jefferson said, “It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.”

Businesses can’t find workers because expanded unemployment benefits pay more than many jobs. It’s the free stuff in return for votes concept.

Police are being defunded, serious crime is growing astronomically, China wants to rule the world as our military budget is reduced, but President Biden has proposed spending $80 billion for more IRS agents. We reduced sanctions on Iran, which allows them to fund Middle East violence. The present administration wants to do away with First and Second Amendment rights. They tout socialism and quote Chairman Mao. Our free speech is being censored by government and the oligarchy.

What else could possibly go wrong? Remember this and vote intelligently in November!
