To the Editor:

Safety is the key issue for the renamed “Route 605 Safety Committee” and for citizens who live in the area. We are keenly concerned about safety on the narrow, twisting, hilly Rt. 605 [Shannon Hill Road] and linked roads, especially in light of Louisa County’s planned 700-acre business park near the I-64 interchange.

The serious, multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Rt. 605 on Aug. 17 reinforces the importance of safety. This road is already dangerous! Commuter, supplier and shipping traffic from a business park stands to make it much worse. Although opinions about a business park vary as they would in any large group, everyone agrees: Road safety must be addressed from the start by county development planning.
