To the Editor:

I am writing in response to the article, “Sanctuary sought for gun rights,” published in your newspaper on Nov. 21. In this article it is pretty clear that you are encouraging all citizens in the county to “protect their gun rights.”

This article gives the impression that we should not all foster our own individual opinions and that we should all think alike. I think in today’s climate it is important to encourage people to foster their own opinions based on personal experiences.

While protecting gun rights may be important to some citizens of Louisa, other could have had bad experiences with them and believe the opposite.

The Central Virginian should use the platform it has built in the community to encourage this. Instead, it is doing the opposite.

I would suggest that in the future your newspaper try to tackle both ends of the spectrum on any topic you cover.
