LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Louisa Little League gets funding

To the Louisa Community:

The Louisa County Little League program was back in full swing for 2021, providing both spring and fall seasons for baseball and softball. We would like to thank our players, parents, and the Louisa community for all of their hard work and support to get the youngsters back on the field after a season hiatus from COVID. The sounds of bats cracking, kids laughing, and parents cheering sure was a blessing and brought us back to some sense of normalcy.

As we look forward to our 2022 season, we are thrilled to thank the William A. Cooke Foundation for the exciting recent announcement. The William A. Cooke Foundation has approved a $1 million grant to Louisa County Little League to construct a new baseball/softball complex in the Cuckoo area at the intersection of Routes 33 and 522. We will use these funds to build a four-field cloverleaf on the site to add additional league facilities for our kids, grandkids, and their grandkids to play for many years to come. These additional fields will allow for more game and practice facilities at a central location as well as helping our Little League program grow, and overall providing more opportunities for our youth.

While the new complex will take time to develop and will require more community involvement to see it through to completion, we are so ecstatic to get the process started. On behalf of the players, coaches, and parents of Louisa Little League, we send a huge thank you to the William A. Cooke Foundation for the generous donation to our Louisa County youth!
