To the editor:

Last week, a U.S. Central Command representative told the House Armed Services Committee that, due to lack of testing capabilities, U.S. service members stationed in Afghanistan could not receive coronavirus tests, even if they have symptoms.

This is not OK. I served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and I know how important it is to know that your government and the people at home (United States) support you when dealing with danger and hardship.

Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger strongly believes we must prioritize testing and taking care of our people serving overseas in countries where there is a high number of cases. She and her colleagues in Congress sent a letter to the Secretary of Defense asking for an urgent report on what is being done to protect them from exposure and asking the Pentagon to describe what resources it needs to keep our men and women safe.

Abigail is a proven leader. Yes, we need leaders like Abigail who know what to prioritize, and with her experience and foresight, she can get the job done. We need to keep Abigail Spanberger in Congress.
