To the editor:

In last week’s edition of The Central Virginian you asked the question, “Are we worth the investment?”  Reading between the lines, you were asking, “Should The Central Virginian continue publishing our only source of local information?

One hundred percent absolutely. The press to me is not Facebook or Instagram. It isn’t the social media that people talk about.

The Central Virginian allows us to read first-hand, accurate news that is imperative to our local population and daily life. The paper supplies us with information that can’t be obtained anywhere else. The CV shows concern for our families via support, caring, encouragement, faith, legal notices, advertisements that support business, fundraising and acknowledgements for our students, pets and sporting events.

We are offered the opportunity to write our opinions, write classified ads to sell our stuff, hire or look for a job, buy or rent a house or apartment or learn a new trade. All of this for 75 cents a week — less then a chocolate bar, which doesn’t last a long time.

The First Amendment was a blessing to us all. Support The Central Virginian.
