Louisa Community Emergency Fund recently held its fifth annual BBQ Throwdown fundraiser at the Betty Queen Center. LCEF board members were pleased with the attendance and funds generated to help local families in crisis.

“Our success is due to the generous support of our partners. Supervisor [Fitzgerald] Barnes donated the awesome pork, Louisa Parks and Recreation provided the reduced-fee venue and The Freddy’s Fingers band offered live music,” LCEF Chairperson Lin Kogle said.

Dollar General Lake Anna, Mineral Restaurant and Louisa Resource Council helped with paper goods and bottled water. LCEF board members and friends provided all of the side dishes for the event.

Throwdown cookoff winners included Al Ptasznik’s baked beans (number one), Bobbi Langston’s coleslaw (number four), Betty Rae Hiter’s cornbread (number seven) and Deborah French’s banana pudding dessert (number 12).
