There will be a few local political races to watch this year in Louisa County.
Troy Painting submitted paperwork by the June 11 deadline to challenge Major Donald Lowe in the contest for sheriff. Painting, of Bumpass, is a contractor and president of the Louisa Little League.
Other challengers include Bernie Hill and Jessie Shupe, who will battle incumbent Toni Williams and Eric Purcell, respectively, for the supervisors’ seats in the Jackson and Louisa districts. The contest for commissioner of the revenue will be between acting Commissioner Stacey Fletcher, Charles Rosson and Dan Braswell.
