A Louisa County man was shot and killed on Saturday, July 20 in Dumfries.

Prince William County Police Department officers were called at 9:43 p.m. to investigate a shooting at the intersection of Buell Ct. and Old Triangle Rd., where they found James Edward Grooms, 32, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Grooms was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The department said that the homicide does not appear to be random. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are investigating to determine what led up to the altercation that resulted in Grooms’ death.
