Louisa District Supervisor Eric Purcell announced on Monday that he will not be seeking re-election. His term will end on December 31, 2023.
Purcell cited health issues and wanting to spend more time as a father as his son enters high school in the fall as his reasons for his upcoming retirement from the board. His timely announcement is to allow any prospective candidates ample time to collect signatures and campaign.
“It’s been my honor to serve with each of you. I think we’ve got some good things started. They’re not finished. Hopefully when they are finished the fruits of these labors will be apparent,” Purcell told the board. “I’ve still got a few months to try and see some of those things through.”
Purcell served his first term on the Louisa County Board of Supervisors from 2003 to 2007. He was chair of the Louisa County Planning Commission from 2013 to 2017 before being elected to the board of supervisors again in 2019.
“I’d like to thank everyone in the Louisa District for their support,” said Purcell.
